Provide searching services for books and periodicals that are indicated as “Item in place” in catalogue status but are not located at the right bookshelves in the Main Library and Medical Branch Library.

All users

• Search for books
  • When the Discovery System displays book status of “Item in place” and the item is located in the Main Library or the Medical Branch, but the book cannot be found on the shelf, readers can visit the Service Desks on each floor to fill out the Missing Item Search Request Form.
  • The requester will be notified of the search result within 3 business day after the Searching Services form is processed.
  • Once the requester is notified by email that the book is found, please proceed to the Main Library or Medical Branch Library to borrow the book within the given time period, otherwise the book will be reshelved.
  • If the library is unable to find the book before another user, the user is allowed to borrow the book for one week. Once the book is returned, the original requester will be notified to borrow the book.
  • The requester will be informed of any available copies if the book cannot be found but is available at other departments in NCKU.
  • Users are suggested to utilize the Interlibrary Loan Service to borrow from other libraries if there is only a copy of the book within the NCKU Library collection and is urgently needed.
  • If the book has not yet been found after 6 months, the possibility to purchase a new copy will be evaluated by the library.
• Search for missing journals in Main Library
  • For periodicals cannot be located on the shelf, please go to the information desk on second, third and B2 floor and fill out a request form. Staff at library will assist you in locating the specific item and inform you of the result through either an email notice or a phone call.
  • Item in urgent need can usually be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan Service.
