(ETDS)Reminder for graduate students to submit electronic thesis/dissertation before August 28, 2026 (Friday)

Important Submission Timelines

1. Submitting on or before Aug. 28: You will be able to complete all graduation procedures before September 4, 2026, which is the deadline for  leaving campus for the spring semester of this academic year (2025-2026), according to the Registrar Division.

2. Submitting on or after Aug. 29: If you fail to complete the graduation procedures by September 4, you will face registration fee issues for the upcoming semester. For details, please contact the Registrar Division at 06-2757575 ext. 50120 or email: em50120@ncku.edu.tw.

3. Based on our experience, the review process can be lengthy. Please allow at least 1 week, as the system may reject your submission multiple times due to formatting errors. (According to our data, it may reject a submission up to 7–8 times, and you will need to restart the submission process after each rejection.)

Crucial Guidelines for Leaving Campus

1. Format Check: Make sure to go through the checklist in the "Thesis Upload" user manual before submitting. On average, students get rejected 3 to 8 times, so checking early will prevent delays in your graduation procedures.

2. Personal data protection: For your electronic thesis/dissertation, please redact any personal information that appears in the main text or appendices, such as interviewee names, personal email addresses, phone numbers, residential addresses, ID numbers, birthdates, etc.

3. Authorization: To enhance the academic impact and international visibility of NCKU, we highly encourage you to set the E. thesis/dissertation to release immediately.

Regulations for Embargo (Delayed Public Access)
(Starting from the 2025 academic year)

1. Application Timeline: If you need to delay the public release of your thesis, you must apply through the Degree Examination System and get approval from your committee members. (Per the Ministry of Education's June 4, 2025 letter and the Academic Affairs Office's August 20, 2025 letter).

2. Uploading the Form: Soon-to-be graduates need to scan the signed "Application for Embargo of Thesis/Dissertation" into a 1-page PDF file and upload it to the "Authorization" page in the thesis system.

3. Once an embargo is set for the full text, the bibliographic information will also be embargoed. Please ensure that the bibliographic settings (Chinese/English abstracts, table of contents, keywords, references) match the embargo period. The reason for the embargo must also be consistent with the information provided in the application form. (For detailed instructions, see link Application for Thesis/Dissertation Modifications)

To improve the reading environment and address long-standing leakage issues, the Main Library will undergo building-wide waterproofing repairs starting April 30, 2026.

This project includes the complete replacement of the typhoon-damaged rooftop skylights and the reinforcement of waterproof structures in specific seepage areas.

Construction Information

  • Project Duration: Scheduled from April 30 to August 31 (areas will reopen earlier if the work is completed ahead of schedule).

  • Key Work Areas: External building waterproofing, including the rooftop/penthouse skylights, the 5th-floor south terrace, and the 2nd-floor northwest office terrace.

  • Affected Areas:

    • Facility Closures: 5th-floor Group Study Rooms (527 & 534) and south-side window seating will be closed from April 15 to August 31.

    • Safety Measures: The fire shutters in the 4th-floor atrium will be closed during construction. Please follow the posted signs for detours.

  • Other Reminders:

    • The exact schedule for high-noise work will be announced separately.

    • Earplugs are provided at the 1st-floor Self-Service Area and 5th-floor Elevator Lobby (limited supply). Readers are welcome to take them as needed.

Due to the extensive area requiring repair and our commitment to minimizing disruption to our readers, the library's waterproofing project will be conducted in a staged approach. Phase I prioritizes the replacement of typhoon-damaged skylights and the repair of critical external seepage points. Please be advised that minor leaks may still occur in areas not included in this initial phase. We will implement preemptive measures to manage any potential leaks and schedule interior wall and ceiling restoration as soon as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by these necessary construction and maintenance measures. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Wishing you joy and peace!
